Most of us have heard that not everybody learns the same way. Some are visual learners, some thrive on instructions, and others, like me, are doodling learners!
For a long time I have taken a notebook to church on Sunday’s and ‘doodled’ my notes. Even before I doodled in the notebooks, I would find myself doodling in the margins of my bible around the morning’s scriptures. (My husband was very surprised to find a floral doodle in the pages of his bible after I had been using it…)
This is the best way for me to actually retain what was said. Now, I am not pretending that I remember all of it, but, I do tend to retain the key points because I can ‘see’ the page in my mind.
Some of you would be hesitant to take notes this way in church, and I was bit like that myself for a while, but you can do this without people really noticing what you are doing. You just look like someone writing notes.
During the service I sketch in pencil, then the next morning I go over it with pens and erase the pencil.
If you would like to be amongst a community of other Christian doodlers, then I would encourage you to hop over to our bible art journaling Facebook group. Every Monday morning I’ll be posting my doodles, and I hope you do too!
Hope to see you there,
